Rescue Adopt

Pet Wear enjoys a wonderful relationship with a large number of the rescues and shelters that working to help animals and educate people.

1) Contact every shelter and rescue you know and suggest that they work with PetWear on future FunRaisers! Just think how great it will be when your orders of Designer Dog or Cat Collars, Leashes, Harnesses or Horse Halters also directly benefit the work being done by those organizations. Write us at Julie@PetWearUSA.com if you think we should be in touch with them, too.
2) Of course, consider adopting a rescue when you plan on getting your next pet!
3) Read about proper pet behavior and care. By providing an excellent environment for your pet, you are more likely to have a pet you adore and are ecstatic about living with for the long term.
4) Be willing to offer advice and suggestions when you hear people looking for help. Whether by directing them to a good local trainer or the shelter for more information, your "peer" pressure can help people become more responsible as well.
5) Be willing to report cases of abuse, neglect and strays. While many may be concerned that a shelter isn't a great place for an animal.. the big wide world is worse! Domestic animals do not survive without care that includes feeding, shelter and protection from disease. Stress makes them more vulnerable as does reduced health because of poor or minimal food. Parasites drag a pet down further making them more susceptible. For cats, diseases like FIV and Feline Leukemia are waiting around the corner with the next interaction with another cat.
6) Consider being involved with a rescue or shelter. You can help in a myriad of ways. Whether hands on with the animals or not, you can make a difference.
7) Get educated and educate others. Visit DigitalDog.com for extensive information about the current state of animal welfare. Whether you want to sort out rescues from shelters, good breeders from bad, the pluses and minuses of a purebred or a mix - DigitalDog can help you make responsible choices in the best interest of animals everywhere.
8) MOST IMPORTANT - If you haven't already, spay or neuter your pet. Reduce the chance to 0 that you will end up being somehow responsible for more unwanted pets in this country. The lineage of your pet doesn't really matter. Every breed has unwanted individuals that end up in shelters because the breeder either didn't check or was wrong in thinking that the home they sold that puppy to was a good one.
